You’ll be helping us test a new feature from Okta and Apple that brings the Mac experience on par with what Windows users have had for decades, called Password Sync. This means your Mac password will be updated when you change your Okta password. There’s a couple of different technologies that work together to make this possible: Platform Single Sign-on for macOS and Okta Device Access.
If everything goes to plan, the best outcome is the most boring one. That is to say, ideally, you shouldn’t notice anything different about how you log in to your Mac! Previous methods for Password Sync on Mac involved having web pages pop up on login, with scripts running in the background to make it possible. Using Platform SSO means that we can use the native macOS login experience.
